Do I need to use social media?

Yes. All businesses need a presence on social media and because camping and glamping is a competitive marketplace then get social media savvy. Consider it to be a way to

  • talk with your customers,
  • keep them up to date with your sites developments,
  • inform them of new features,
  • tell them when the booking calendar is open.

In a nutshell it’s a free way to advertise and a great way to find out more about your ideal (or future) customers.

So which platform should I use?

You can broadly choose between Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram or Tik Tok. Each platform has its individual strengths and will attract different audiences. Interestingly, different age groups may be on the same social media platform but will use it differently. My teenagers will use Instagram only really to message each other (and SnapChat) but are all over Tik Tok. The clue is to know your audience and find where they hang out.

Where do I start ?

Before you can start posting you need a social media strategy. Have a look here for more details.

Help I need inspiration!

Have a look at your competitors online and see what they are all doing. It will give you some ideas of content and what’s popular (measured by engagement and to an extent, likes). Look and see how often they are posting, if they are responding to comments, and the number of followers they have. Your social media exists to be entertaining, informative, relevant and helpful. So keep that in mind when writing and planning your posts.
